If my fiance files bankruptcy, will that affect our K1 visa applications?

My fiance and I currently have a K-1 visa in process which will be routed to the London Embassy (UK). We are preparing our budget for marriage, and my fiance has an outstanding debt of approximately 9k GBP to pay off in the 10 months left before he leaves the UK for the U.S.. If he (the beneficiary) files bankruptcy, will it affect our K1 visa application?
